Preparing for a Maternity Session is one of my favorites! Heres a look into what I do!
As soon as you book your maternity session I start preparing. I want this experience to leave you feeling confident and happy. I make sure that everything is done before you show up so all you have to do is enjoy the moment.
Two weeks before your session I have you come to my downtown studio to try on dresses from my client’s closet. This is one of the best parts of the whole experience. You get to choose 2-3 dresses you love most. I also have beautiful flowy fabrics if that’s more like your style. This allows me to take the stress out of finding outfits to wear and allows us to stick with the style youre going for.
The day of…
I arrive early on the day of your session to make sure everything is clean and the studio is at a comfortable temperature. I want my space to feel welcoming the moment you walk in.
I spend some time setting up the studio by choosing backdrops which are usually simple and solid colors, so the focus stays on you and your beautiful belly. I set up two different areas so all you have to do is change you dress and move to the next backdrop. This helps with the flow of the session and ensures no time is taken away from your allotted time.
Before you arrive, I steam the dresses and fabric to ensure everything looks perfect. It makes a big difference in how it makes your photos feel. My goal is to create a beautiful, timeless gallery that you can enjoy for a lifetime.
One thing I always recommend to moms is getting hair and makeup done before the session. Some moms like to do this themselves and some hire a professional, either way works. If you choose to have it professionally done, we can work around it on our schedule. The most important thing is that you feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera.
Everything I do while preparing for your session is intentional. From the time you book your session to the moment you show up my goal is to create an environment and an experience you won’t forget.
