What is it like to book a newborn session with me? Well let me tell you!
Booking a newborn session with me means that everything will be taken care of before you arrive at the studio. I do a lot of planning and prepping for every newborn, so when the day comes everything goes smoothly.
The day before your newborn session I go to my studio and turn the heater on to make sure it’s warm and cozy when you get there. Newborns are most comfortable when they are in a warm environment, which allows them to melt into those adorable poses.
The next thing I do is clean the studio. I sweep and mop with non-harmful floor cleaner. My goal is to make sure your newborn is in a clean sanitized environment since their immune systems aren’t as strong as ours.
On the morning of your session, I arrive early to start setting up. Your vision is my top priority, so I pull out props, fabrics, and backdrops based on what we have talked about.
I always choose colors that compliment your newborn baby’s skin tone. Typically, these will be soft, neutral colors. After I have chosen the colors, I find outfits, wraps, headbands or bonnets that flow nicely with the colors I chose.
At this point I choose the fabric backdrops for the newborn posing bed as well as the floor drops for the props. Then it’s onto the layers underneath the props. This could be floral for the girls, greenery for the boys, or textured fabrics for a simpler look.
Once everything starts to come together, I choose a simple backdrop for the family portion of the newborn session and a fur for the sibling portion. Everything stays minimal and clean to make sure your baby always remains the focus of the session.
Before you show up to the newborn session, I double check everything is working properly; camera, light, noise maker, vibrating soother, anything that helps soothe your newborn. I also make sure I have the essentials; baby brush, extra pacifier, sensitive skin lotion to help with newborn flakes. I want you to walk into my studio, take a deep breath, and relax knowing that everything has been taken care of.
I take my time to plan your newborn session. I always have a backup plan so I can guarantee your vision comes to life. I want you to feel like you are leaving your newborn in capable hands. I do all of this to ensure you have beautiful, timeless images that will last a lifetime.
